THIS IS A VERY CLEAN REFINISHED ANTIQUE WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 IN 45-70 GOVT. HAS A NEWER 20-3/4" BARREL WITH A BRIGHT AND SHINY BORE (THERE ARE SOME VERY MINOR PITT'S ON THE LANDS TOWARDS THE MUZZLE - DOES NOT AFFECT ACCURACY.) THIS WAS ORIGINALLY A TAKE-DOWN MODEL, HOWEVER IT WAS CONVERTED TO BE SOLID. HAS A VERY SMOOTH ACTION, AND FUNCTIONS FINE. SOMEONE SPENT A LOT OF TIME & MONEY ON THIS GUN. IT WAS RECENTLY RECOVERED IN VERMONT. WOOD IS IN GREAT SHAPE, THERE ARE A COUPLE REPAIR AREAS (CLEANLY DONE) - SEE PICTURES! SHOWS SERIAL NUMBER 71722 MAKING IT ORIGINALLY MADE IN 1892 - DEFINING IT AS AN ANTIQUE TRANSFER (I WILL NEED A COPY OF YOUR CURRENT ID TO PROVE 21 OR OLDER.) BARREL IS QUITE HEAVY, MEASURES ABOUT 1" AT THE RECEIVER AND ABOUT .800 AT THE MUZZLE. HAS A WILLIAMS RECEIVER PEEP SIGHT AND A LYMAN BEAD FRONT SIGHT. HAS A WINCHESTER SOFT BUTT PAD THAT HAS BEEN NICELY FITTED. THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT HUNTING RIFLE, OR AN AFFORDABLE 1886 ANTIQUE TO ADD TO YOUR COLLECTION.
